The Bride and Groom’s Story

Alex & Chay initially first met through their shared love for Athletics - at a university national level competition. Representing the same university, Southampton, we were staying in the same hotel across the competition weekend. We were the only two individuals from the entire team to qualify for the finals on the Monday, so we were both keen to get an early night after the team dinner and prepare for the following day. We shared a transport shuttle to the stadium and we encouraged each other in the warm-up area. We were representing the same team, so we thought we would support each other in our respective events. We thought we could be better together...

Fast forward several months, Chay joined the same training group / coach as Alex, and from here our friendship (and attraction) blossomed. We always joked & laughed with each other, and we also supported & encouraged one another to achieve their goals. We started to hang out outside of training commitments and this is where things became more. We very quickly became best friends, and even quicker after that, we fell in love.

We had been dating for almost 4 years, when Alex proposed to Chay in Cornwall, England. Amongst all of the uncertainty around COVID and Government lockdown restrictions, we had been saving for our first home which we then moved into at the beginning of 2021. Things always did seem better together.

After more saving, and lots of planning, we eventually got married in Paphos, Cyprus. Everyone will say this about their own wedding day, but it really was perfect from start to finish. There was not one thing that we would change! To have all of our favourite people in one place, to share our special day, was truly special.

Through our respective childhood upbringings, academic successes, career directions, sporting achievements and other fortunate experiences, we have really had some good times. Our wedding day, however, for sure is the best day of our lives!

Where do I begin..!

I had the pleasure of meeting Chay and Alex at their wedding in Cyprus, as I had the absolute honor to be their Cyprus wedding Photographer. They are a couple whose connection is infectious as their smiles. The genuine warmth that radiated from them painted a vivid picture of shared laughter. Chay’s eyes lit up when Alex spoke and Alex's gaze held an unmistakable admiration for Chay. Witnessing their harmonious interaction left an indelible impression, reminding me that sometimes, in the most unexpected moments, you encounter a love story that feels like a beautifully unfolding novel.
